Description
The European Patent Academy, the Italian Patent and Trademark Office and the
Venice International University are jointly organising an International Conference
on Intellectual Property and Knowledge Management in Venice at the end of October
2006. The conference will take place at the Venice International University
(VIU) on San Servolo Island, Venice, Italy, on Thursday, 26 October 2006, and
Friday, 27 October 2006.
The event is scheduled in connection with and preceding the Third
Venice Award for Intellectual Property. The award ceremony will be
organised by the City of Venice and will take place in Ducale Palace
in Venice on Saturday, 28 October 2006. The City of Venice will invite
the participants at the international conference to attend in the
award ceremony.
Content
The conference focuses on the role of
the Intellectual Property System in the knowledge-based economy,
especially the opportunities and challenges presented by the modern
changing global economic conditions. Specific consideration will
be given to the strategic importance of IP & innovation management
for the creation of commercial value both in the world of business
and public research organisations. Topics that will be addressed
include:
- the role of the intellectual property system in the knowledge-based
economy
- IP & innovation management in the business world
- Intellectual property rights in public research organisations
- Challenges for the IP-system in the knowledge-based European
economy
Target Group
The conference will bring together experts and practitioners concerned with the
strategic use of intellectual property and knowledge management in innovation,
coming from governmental institutions, IP authorities, industry, IP professionals
and business advisors, universities and public and private research institutions.
